If you’re anything like most people, you are skeptical of all of the “pro-hormones” that have made their way onto the market since DASCA (Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act) of 2014.
Or maybe you’re new to pro-hormones and you want to know what the best compounds on the market are and how to safely run a cycle.
This article is designed to educate both longtime and new users about what compounds are available on the market today and how they should be taken.
We’ll go through which delivery system is best, what each compound is designed to do, and what dangers and possible consequences are entailed in a possible cycle.
Back In The Day
If you’ve run a pro-hormone cycle in the past you’re likely reading this and thinking, “Nothing can top the first cycle of (superdrol, halodrol, m-drol, or whatever compound you took).”
Well you’re probably right.
For anyone who has taken a pro-hormone in the past, depending on what you took and how well you followed your diet and training nothing is likely to come close to that first cycle you ran. Your body acclimates to certain compounds after taking them so the effectiveness of pro-hormones cycle is likely to follow the law of diminishing returns.
In all reality those products were closer to designer steroids then an actual pro-hormone, anyway, so before you pass judgement on any of these “new-fangled pro-hormones” you need to temper your expectations and realize the difference between what was and what now is.
If you remember back in 2009, Bodybuilding.com executives Ryan and Jeremy DeLuca were fined for selling designer anabolic steroids improperly labeled as dietary supplements. These included products like Superdrol, which is in fact known as an anabolic steroid and has since been classified as a schedule III controlled substance in the US. This eventually led to an amendment to the controlled substances act effectively banning these compounds. However, this amendment left a lot of loopholes for other anabolic compounds that while not necessarily steroids, they were steroidal in nature.
DASCA, or the Designer Steroid Control Act of 2014 was the most recent amendment to the Controlled Substances Act affecting steroid-like compounds. DASCA 2014 effectively banned any “good” pro-hormones still on the market.
So after DASCA 2014 all we were left with were SARMS and a handful of DHEA derivatives masquerading as potent pro-hormones. SARMS are unproven and we’ve generally not heard of any positive reviews on their results. Most of the DHEA products on the market were only mildly potent and didn’t give anywhere near the results that we were used to with pro-hormones.
In addition to these, natural testosterone boosters and estrogen blockers were still bought and sold regularly. However, natty test boosters have very limited results in muscle growth, with their most noticeable benefit being increased libido.
It seemed that anabolic compounds were gone for good.
The “NEW” Pro-Hormones
Laxogen, a plant-based steroid has given some fairly decent results in testers. Laxogen is found in products such as APS Androbolic 250 and Divided Labs Diverge. If you head over to our Youtube channel you can find a couple testimonials from reviewers of Diverge.
The effects seem to be more noticeable in less advanced lifters with gains of 4+ pounds in a months cycle.
The best thing about Diverge? It requires no PCT. This may be the best bet for someone just starting who doesn’t yet know their way around a pro-hormone cycle.
We wouldn’t normally bat an eyelash at post-DASCA pro-hormones and in-fact we didn’t when Hi-Tech first pitched these pro’s to us. Hi Tech has long had products with steroid-like names such as Anavar and Dianabol. These products didn’t quite seem to measure up with the pro-hormones of the day, so we were skeptical when they re-developed these products and came out with new products named after steroids such as 1-Testosterone, Superdrol, and Decabolin. In addition, the ingredients seemed to be old standby’s of DHEA based products and other low potency anabolics.
However, Hi Tech seems to have something up their sleeve with the delivery of these compounds that may make them EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE.
It’s All In the Delivery
What makes these products so special and so different from anything else in the market? It’s the trademarked Cyclosomal delivery process.
This is a process that until now has only been used in the pharmaceutical industry. It basically entails a double loading process of trapping the pro-hormone in cyclodextrin which is a highly soluble sugar, and then trapping that in a liposome (aka fat).
This is the most advanced type of liposomal delivery process which basically transports the pro-hormone compounds intact through the liver (like a trojan horse) without being broken down. This process also makes the compound extremely bioavailable and uses a reported 90% (approximate) of the pro-hormone compound.
This means that compounds such as 4-andro, 1-andro, Androsterone, and 19-Nor (which respectively convert to 1-Testosterone, Testosterone, and Nandrolone in your body) are almost fully utilized.
Gains of 10 lbs of mass in a month-long advanced stack cycle are not out of the question.
In addition, since there are no methylated compounds like the old pro-horomones contained, there is no danger of damage to your liver and thus no need for liver support.
This is a step up from the liposomal process being utilized by other pro-hormone manufacturers on the market and is the current gold standard for any pro-hormone. Only time will tell how these products will work but rest assured we will be running our own tests on them to check on their potency. Check back from time to time to find logs and write-ups on these products.

Directions for Running A Pro-Hormone Cycle
If you’ve never done a pro-hormone cycle before I encourage you to read up on the risks associated with messing with your natural hormones.
In addition, pro-hormones are not allowed for sale to anyone under the age of 18 and should not be taken by anyone under the age of 21.
Overdosing, running a cycle improperly, running a cycle too long, not cycling off, or otherwise misusing a pro-hormone is very dangerous and can have serious long term health effects including gynecomastia (otherwise known as man boobs), infertility, erectile dysfunction, shrunken testicles, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or other side effects. Use at your own risk.
Now that that is out of the way, if you run a proper cycle (aka dosing appropriately and running a proper PCT) those side effects are very unlikely. New users to pro-hormones should not exceed the recommended dosage on the bottle.
For the Hi Tech Pro-Hormones dosing seems to be 2 capsules per day (one in the morning and 1 in the evening). You should run this dosage for 1 month and then cycle off. This means that you will need 1 bottle for your entire cycle.
Advanced Users Only: If this is not your first rodeo and you have run multiple pro-hormone cycles you may want to experiment with 3-4 caps per day or stacking multiple compounds. Hi Tech recommends 1-Testosterone + Decabolin for a mass gaining cycle and Anavar + 1-AD for hardening cycle. You may also want to try running the cycle for 4-8 weeks before cycling off. Make sure you cycle off! For an 8 week cycle you will need 4 bottles total.
Post Cycle Therapy (PCT)
An appropriate PCT must be used on all pro-hormone cycles! This includes a natural testosterone booster to raise your levels back to normal after the pro-hormone suppression occurs. This should also include an estrogen blocker to combat what is known as the “estrogen rebound” just in case one occurs. PCT MUST be started as soon as your cycle ends and run for one month.
It is also a good idea to get blood work done to make sure hormone levels, blood pressure, and cholesterol are all back to normal.
Make sure to take off twice as much time as your on cycle time + PCT before starting another pro-hormone cycle.
While pro-hormones aren’t and will probably never get back to their glory days, there are some promising products coming out on the market.
The new Hi Tech pro-hormones are certainly shaping up to be the leader in the category and are currently our recommended anabolic for users who know how to run a proper pro-hormone cycle.
The Blackstone Labs pro-hormones are also a good bet to pack on some extra muscle, but are not quite as advanced as the Hi Tech brand.
Again, make sure you run a proper cycle and PCT with either of these if you try them.
For inexperienced users, Divided Labs Diverge is recommended as it is a plant-based steroid and does not require a PCT. Results are generally more mild than some of the other products available, but it carries little risk of adverse side effects.
Just like regular supplements, pro-hormones will not do the work for you. Before running a cycle, make sure that your diet and training are on point and you’ve already taken advantage of your “newbie gains.” Pro-Hormones should only be taken by experienced bodybuilders who have plateaued or who have seen significant slowdown in muscle mass gains. Pro-Hormones are not advised for anyone taking part in competition sports or who may face performance enhancing drug tests. Pro-Hormones are also not allowed for anyone serving in the armed forces. Anyone who is thinking of taking a pro-hormone should research the different compounds involved and make sure that they fully understand how to properly run a pro-hormone cycle. They should also be aware of the possible side-effects mentioned above under the column “Directions for Running a Pro-Hormone Cycle.” No one under the age of 18 is allowed to buy pro-hormones and no one under the age of 21 should use a pro-hormone.
