Quest vs Combat Crunch – The Battle of Protein Bars

Quest vs Combat Crunch – The Battle of Protein Bars

Quest Bars vs Combat Crunch Bars

Quest set the bar high, no pun intended.

Chances are, if you ask anyone what the best protein bar is, they will tell you Quest protein bars.

And they have earned that title. Quest has a HUGE selection of flavors that are all equally delicious, with a very good nutritional profile. Quest bars aren’t filled with junk ingredients like most protein bars, but somehow they still taste amazing.

Muscle Pharm recently broke into the protein bar market, with their Combat Crunch bars. So I decided to compare them to Quest bars.

According to Muscle Pharm, “The bars are high protein, with low active carbs and tons of fiber. Unlike hard-paste, “taffy-like” sports bars, Combat Crunch is like eating a soft-batch cookie.”

Now, I’m not sure how they can say their bars are “like a soft-batch cookie” while Crunch is in the name… but that’s none of my business right?

I’m a big fan of Quest bars and I love all of the flavors I have tried. So I started this comparison with the new Smores flavored Quest bar. Delicous. It tastes super sweet, yet only has 1g of sugar.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was the flavor of choice for my Combat Crunch bar.

I thought the Quest bar was good, but when I had the Combat Crunch bar, it kind of made the Quest seem foamy and dry in texture. The Combat Crunch really reminded me of a 100 Grand candy bar with the taste and texture. Very soft, with little crunchies throughout. Really really good.

I’ve gotta say, Combat Crunch wins the taste and texture contest, in my opinion!

Nutritional Profiles

Both bars have a fairly low number of ingredients (at least compared to other bars) with a pretty good macro breakdown. It’s close, but I would have to say Quest is the winner in the nutrition department.

Protein bars

Both bars are about as good as it gets for manufactured protein bars. The best option is really to make your own, but that’s not as quick and easy!
