This works pretty well for me -- not for duration of sleep, but maybe quality. I wake up and feel pretty good -- not exactly remarkably refreshed, but pretty good -- but my dreams have been pretty vivid and I usually don't wake during the night. I'm assuming my REM cycles are deeper than usual; the sleep app on my phone charts this and there's only a nominal difference, but this has been my experience. I'd recommend trying this at least once to see if it works for your recuperation.
